The primary purpose of the association is to represent the business
owner’s interests with the teamsters, more about public agencies, policy makers,
etc. That being said, you would probably like to know what other
benefits you receive as a member of the NYC MTA:

– Cost savings! Our members pay $0.35 per hour towards the
Industry Fund which you are currently paying $0.50 an hour for.
– Legal Representation provided by Barnes, Iaccarino, &
Shepherd at all dispute panels and arbitration’s. They also are
available to provide you legal advice on other issues (employee
discipline, NLRB matters, audits, etc.
– Input into the Collective Bargaining Agreement process
between the NYC MTA, Inc. and the teamsters. Our Association meets
quarterly to discuss all matters affecting the industry.
– A full-time staff person always available to assist you so
that you can focus exclusively on your business.
